This is the University of Alaska Southeast Library

After a book signing and presentation at HEARTHISIDE BOOKS, on April 16, 2012 I am invited to speak to the university's advanced creative writing class instructed by professor Ernestine Hayes, the author of BLONDE ESKIMO. It was good to meet her and her students who demonstrated a wide range of talent and writing interests. The class was held in the University of Alaska Southeast library (the Egan building). I worked in the Learning Center in this library back in 1995, and have always considered it hands down to be the most beautiful library I have ever seen. The walls with their generous glass panels and vaulted sky-light celiings are surrounded on three sides by pristine cedar forests. On the fourth side is the icy Auke Lake wrapped by snowy mountains and a distant bowl of glacial ice. It could hardly get more scenic.
